Natural Conception

I came to Angela while struggling to conceive. I had always been health-conscious, but somewhere along the way that had turned into health anxiety. I was tracking everything, analyzing every symptom, researching constantly, and worrying that something I was eating, taking, or doing might be affecting my fertility.

I knew I was stressed, but I didn’t know how to get out of the cycle. Even when nothing was wrong, my body felt as though it was waiting for something to happen. I could meditate and feel calmer for a little while, but underneath it all I still felt constantly on alert.

I was very open to the nervous system work Angela suggested. Along with acupuncture, we incorporated the Safe and Sound Protocol. She helped me see how often I was moving through my days in a fight-or-flight state and how quickly a physical sensation or anxious thought could send me into another round of researching, checking, and worrying.

Over time, I began learning how to notice what was happening in my body without immediately assuming something was wrong. Meditation became different for me too. Instead of using it to try to make the anxiety disappear, I started using it to become more present and create a little more space around what I was feeling.

The Safe and Sound Protocol became an important part of that process. I gradually noticed that I was less easily activated. I wasn’t checking my body constantly or falling into the same health-anxiety spirals. I could have a concern without immediately turning it into fear.

Trying to conceive had made me feel as though I needed to control every variable. Working with Angela helped me step out of that constant fight-or-flight mode and develop much more trust in my body. Fertility was still deeply important to me, but it no longer consumed every part of my life.

Today, I’m 28 weeks pregnant. Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful not only for the support I received while trying to conceive, but for how differently I learned to relate to my body along the way.
