Endometriosis
Alice’s story:
When I met Angela I had a cyst on my ovary the size of a grapefruit and my hopes of fertility treatment and pregnancy had been put on hold until I somehow got rid of the cyst and the endometriosis.
After my first appointment with Angela I knew she was exactly what I was looking for. I felt like she was treating me as a whole being, not just focusing on my reproductive organs.
We talked about my diet, my emotions, my relationships, and she wanted to help me work on all of it to help calm the endo and prepare my body for pregnancy.
Angela completely changed my diet. Although it was hard, I never felt better and lost almost 20 pounds. She also helped me work through some of my control issues and while I feel like I took control of so many things while I was working with her, I also learned to loosen my hold on a lot. I became so much more relaxed and focused.
I ended up having the cyst removed surgically as it wasn’t going away on its own, and Angela really helped me thorough that experience. After the surgery my reproductive endocrinologist recommended that we should go straight to IVF. Our insurance didn’t cover IVF so we knew that financially we would only have one shot at making this work. That was just added pressure for me. But instead of building it up in my head, I was able to just stick to the course Angela had laid for me, as she kept reminding me that we were preparing my body and my eggs for this, and had been for months.
I decided I was going to do whatever I could to make this work. But I no longer felt the desperation that I had once felt. Going in for the acupuncture and taking the time to calm my body and mind helped me stay positive throughout the process. And knowing that I had Angela to talk to every week really helped me stay on track.
When I finally went through the IVF cycle, I knew I had done everything I could to prepare myself for pregnancy – not just physically but emotionally. I became a little worried in the middle of the cycle when I wasn’t producing a lot of eggs, but Angela reassured me that it wasn’t the quantity but the quality that mattered.
I was thrilled to find out that the cycle was successful and even more thrilled to find out several weeks later that I was carrying twins.
Angela supported me through my first trimester and all of the morning sickness that I had. She helped me hold on to those babies and maintain a healthy pregnancy.
We just celebrated the babies’ first birthday and as I reflect on the very long journey it took us to get here, I can’t imagine I would have made it without Angela. I knew she really cared about me and having that support made all the difference. Looking back, I know I finally got pregnant when my body and mind were ready for my babies. Thank you Angela for helping me get there!
